Iyanka Waste Win (Jadyn Jacinda Huapapi) and Baby Girl Huapapi
Iyanka Waste Win (Jadyn Jacinda Huapapi) was born on October 15, 1999 to Kelli Ann Huapapi in Yankton SD. Iyanka Waste Win was raised by her grandfather Herbert Kenneth Huapapi Jr., whom she called dad. Iyanka Waste Win was expecting her first baby girl on October 13, 2019. Baby girl Huapapi and Iyanka Waste Win passed away at home in Marty, SD on June 17, 2019.
Wake services will be held at 7 PM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Ihanktonwan Oyate Community Center in Marty. Traditional funeral services will begin at 10 AM, Monday, June 24, 2019 at the Community Center and continue at 1 PM at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Marty. Burial is in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood.
Iyanka Waste Win lived in Marty, SD from the day she was born. She shared her 19 years, 8 months, 3 days of life with her mother, grandfather Bert, her sister Lilly, her brother Justice, her hunka brother Nathaniel and many relatives and friends. Iyanka Waste Win possessed many talents from beading, jingle dress dancing, sewing, and quilling. She was a woman of prayer and very intelligent with her academics. Iyanka Waste Win traveled the United States with her family and loved dancing her style with her jingle dresses. Iyanka Waste Win attended Wagner Community School from Kindergarten to Graduating High School with the Class of 2018. Iyanka Waste Win has earned job skills as a CNA (certified nursing assistant) and EMT (emergency medical technician) while attending her high school years. Iyanka Waste Win left home for college to attend Haskell Indian Nations University, Lawrence Kansas. Iyanka Waste Win then traveled to Winnebago Nation and used her EMT certification and was employed with Winnebago Nation as a CHR (community health representative) and held a second job as guest services with Winnevegas Casino. Iyanka Waste Win was a hard worker, trying to make a life for herself and unborn child. Iyanka Waste Win had a huge heart and shared that love with all who was in her presence. She will be missed and remembered for all her talents, her love for her relatives and friends. Iyanka Waste Win had a beautiful spirit that was full of love, sass, and compassion.
Iyanka Waste Win leaves to mourn her mother Kelli Ann, her siblings- Lilly Agnes Ann, Justice Jordan and our hunka son/brother Nathaniel James. Iyanka Waste Win had a large family: Aunts- Julie Lakota & Children, Gloria Lakota & Children, Brenda Neiss & Children, Tamara Neiss & Children, Kerry Neiss & Children, Tonia Young and Children, Rae Young and Children. Many Relatives from Oglala Nation, Crow Creek Nation, and the Ihanktonwan Nation- Between Lodge's, Lakota's, Sitting Up's, Bald Eagle's, Cottier's, Red Elk's, Stand's, Pumpkin Seed's, High Horse's, Walk's, Young's, Walker's, White Mouse's, Bishop's, Walking Bull's, Grey Cloud's, Huapapi's, Blacksmith's, Sun's, Denoyer's, Blaine's, Iron's, Antelope's, Gunhammer's, Special Hunka Relatives-Doug & Phyllis Powers, Clarence & Shelly Montgomery, Ethel Cournoyer, & Desiree (Shane) Bruguier & Children.
Iyanka Waste Win and Babygirl Huapapi is preceded in death by their grandfather/dad Bert Huapapi, grandmother Elfreda Lakota- Huapapi, Great-grandparents Agnes Between Lodges, Eva & Herbert Huapapi Sr, Joseph Shields Jr, Joseph & Lucy Huapapi, Great-Great Grandmothers- Esther Bald Eagle, Pretty Woman, Hornet.
Pallbearers will be all of Iyanka Waste Win's male relatives and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Wagner Community School's Class of 2018 and Faculty. All of Iyanke Waste Win's Relatives and Friends. Eagle Nest Singers from Wanblee, SD.
