James "Terry" Anderson, 90, of Wagner
Funeral Mass will be 11 AM, Monday, December 26, 2016 at St. John Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, rural Platte, with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 9 AM till 11 AM on Monday at the church. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
James Terrance "Terry" Anderson son of Joseph and Kathryn (Dermody) Anderson was born on February 5th, 1926 in Sioux Falls, SD. He died on December 23, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Armour, SD. Terry attained the age of 90 years, 10 months and 18 days.
Terry attended high school at Platte and Cathedral High Schools in South Dakota. He then served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1945. On discharge from the Navy he attended Creighton University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He met his wife, Patricia Mulloy at McKennan Hospital, where Terry was an orderly and Pat was a nurse.
Terry and Pat married on June 23, 1951 at Saint Therese of the Little Flower Catholic Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Ten children blessed their union.
Terry worked as a farmer, locker plant owner, and sold farm shop supplies.
Terry was a member of the American Legion Post #11 in Wagner where he served as State Commander from 1996-1997. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Terry enjoyed spending time gardening, hunting, doing yard work, and tinkering with his lawn mowers and equipment. One of his biggest passions was volunteering for the American Legion. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Thankful for having shared his life are his children: Mary Anderson Conner of Wagner, SD, Jim (Sue) Anderson, of Austin, MN, Joe Anderson of Wagner, SD, Ruth (Frank) Anderson of Littleton, CO, Sharon Brown of Whitewood, SD, Kevin Anderson of Whitewood, SD, Bruce (Tila) Anderson of Wagner, SD, Bridget (Mike) Williams of Piedmont, SD, and Janet Anderson of Mitchell, SD, 15 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Terry was preceded in death by his wife, daughter Janie Anderson, his brothers Joe and Ed Anderson, and his parents.
