James Bruguier, 61, of Wagner

James died Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Wake services were Wednesday at the YST South Housing Gym in Wagner. Funeral services were at the Gym on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 2 PM. Burial was in the Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood.

James "Jim" Edward Bruguier, Sr. was born May 15, 1952 to Sybil Bruguier and Chuck Archambeau. Throughout his adolescent years, he was raised by Myrtle Bruguier and the late Quentin Bruguier, Sr.

Jim was best known for his athletic achievements in the game of baseball and fast pitch softball. He played with numerous teams throughout his life.

While playing with Sioux Empire Realty, the team won the AA South Dakota State Championship. During this time, Jim led the state of South Dakota with the most home runs hit that year. Later, he played with the Marty Renegades who placed second in the state. "Big Bru" (which many of his teammates and competitors called him" was well known for his many abilities such as his throwing, home-run hitting and coaching skills. His strong love of the game helped him to pass on his knowledge to other players which improved their skills.

Jim will be remembered for his smile and sense of humor throughout Indian country.

He is survived by his four sons: Mahlon, Joseph "Joey", James Jr. "Jimmy", and Ryan Bruguier. His companion of 5 years, Julie Cooke and many grandchildren; sisters: Ann Bruguier Miller of Portland, OR; Jeanie Archambeau; Alice Archambeau and brother Francis Archambeau.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Dr. Leonard "Small Change" Bruguier and Clarence Archambeau.
