Jana Jelsma, 94, of Springfield

Funeral Services are 10:30 AM, Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield. Burial is in the Emmanuel Reformed Cemetery in rural Springfield. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Jana Belle Warrington was born to George and Maurine Warrington on June 21, 1925 in Running Water, SD. She died Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at O'Neill Care and Rehab Center in O'Neill, NE.

Jana attended Dahlenburg and Running Water Grade School and graduated from Springfield High School in 1943. Jana received her teaching certification from Southern State Teachers College in Springfield. She taught several years in rural country schools in Springfield and Tyndall area.

Jana married Roy Jelsma on May 19, 1948 in the old Country Emmanuel Reformed Church. They farmed together for 67 years, milking cows and raising hogs. She was a VERY HARD worker, and was always busy with sewing, gardening, canning, and raising chickens to butcher. She loved her flowers, especially pink roses. She was a member of the Springfield American Legion Auxiliary.

Jana is survived by her three daughters: Judy Knoll of Avon, SD; Nancy and husband Gary Konrad of O'Neill, NE; Roylene and husband Jerry Kneen of Kingston, OK; three sisters: Helen Wynia of Oakland, NE; Charlotte Welfl of Grand Island, NE; Dorothy (Jean) Marker of Jackson, MN; one brother Don Warrington and wife Vicki of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Jana was preceded in death by her parents George and Maurine Warrington; her husband Roy Jelsma; grandson Matt Yule; brothers Allen and Mervin Warrington.

Jana will be laid to rest by her husband Roy in the Emmanuel Cemetery.
