Janis R. Nedved, 74 of Wagner
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Wagner, with burial in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner on Friday from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with the family present.
Janis Rae (Swartz) Nedved was born February 24, 1938 in Wagner, SD, the daughter of Emil and Thelma (McKee) Swartz. She died unexpectedly on Monday, October 22, 2012 at her home in Wagner. Janis attained the age of 74 years, seven months and 29 days.
Janis graduated from Wagner High School in 1956. She attended SDSU and DWU.
Janis was united in marriage to Walt Nedved in Wagner on June 16, 1960. Together they raised two children, Douglas and Stacy. Through the years Janis worked at Commercial State Bank as a teller, was a secretary for the National Guard and was a secretary for the City of Wagner Finance Office before taking over as the city finance officer for 26 years.
Janis was an active member of P.E.O. Chapter W, United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Hospital Auxiliary and the Classy Lassies' Red Hatters. In 1986, along with Jean Pirner, Janis organized and started Arts in the Park for the Wagner Labor Day celebration.
In her spare time Janis enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting and gardening.
Thankful for having shared her life are her husband Walter Nedved of Wagner; two children: Douglas and wife Kamlin Nedved of Thorton, CO; Stacy Nedved of Wagner; and a brother, Dennis and wife Sue Swartz of Custer, SD.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Ann Nedved.
