Jasmine Hart, of Lake Andes
Jasmine died Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services are 10 AM, Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the National Guard Armory in Wagner. Burial is in St. Phillip's Episcopal Cemetery, Lake Andes. Wake services will begin Tuesday at the Armory.
Jasmine was born to Theresa Hart and Jesse Gassman on September 22nd, 1978, at the Wagner PHS Hospital.
Jasmine attended Andes Central and Marty Indian School during her school years. At a young age, Jasmine worked for her Auntie Donna's drive-in in Lake Andes, then later worked at the Fort Randall Casino as a cashier. For several years, she worked as a waitress and bartender at the Bait Shop and Bryndy's in Pickstown.
Jasmine met the love of her life, Clayton Ashes III, when she was 15 years old and from their relationship they had four children: Mariah, Clayton IV, Kionah, and Kizer. Jasmine's pride and joy were her children and her supermen (Howie, Kyvon, and Kashton). She was known for her outspoken personality and very infectious laugh. Jasmine was always the life of the party wherever she went and will greatly be missed.
Her favorite basketball team was the Golden State Warriors and she took pride watching her children play in all their sporting events.
She was the best daughter, mother, sister, auntie, cousin, and grandmother. Jasmine was a strong-willed winyan and fought the battle of cancer for 14 years.
She is preceded in death by her best friend Beth Ann Sully, maternal grandparents Vivian and Delmer Arrow, paternal grandparents Florence Crawford and Joseph Costello, Auntie Grandma Henrietta Hart, Auntie Gina Luke, Uncle Mike Costello, Auntie Bobby Jo Crawford, and many relatives too numerous to name.
Jasmine leaves to mourn her parents, her second mom Su Gassman, her sisters Camille Jones of Wagner, SD, Jessica Costello of Sioux Falls, SD, Tara Big Eagle of Manderee, ND, Lauren Kiyukan of Mitchell, SD, and brothers Cornelious Jones Jr. of Lake Andes, SD, Jesse Costello Jr. of Lake Andes, SD and Daryl Jandreau of Wagner, SD. She also leaves behind her takojas, nieces, nephews, cousins, and several friends and relatives.
