Jayson Dykstra, 97, of Avon
Jayson died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Graveside services will be 2 PM, Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the Emmanuel Reformed Cemetery, rural Springfield. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
Jayson Dykstra was born April 11, 1921 at Running Water, SD, the son of Peter and Dora (Vanderlei) Dykstra. He died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner at the age of 97 years, five months and 16 days.
Jayson grew up on a farm working for neighbors in that area. He attended the Running Water School. During the 1930's he worked on the NYA. in 1939 he worked for CCC in the Black Hills. On returning he helped hid dad farm. He later began farming on his own after his dad retired.
Jayson enjoyed doing numbrix puzzles and other word search puzzles. He lso enjoyed driving the old Ford tractor.
Jayson was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church.
Thankful for having shared his life are his sister Mabel Ludens of Sioux Falls, brother Darwin of Avon, and many nieces and nephews.
Jayson was preceded in death by four sisters: Annie Odens, Jessie Boersma, Marie Vander Veen and Ruth Olivier; three brothers: Andrew, Raymond and Donald; and his parents.
