Jean Ann Crosby, 89, of Rapid City

Funeral services will be 2 PM, Friday, May 20, 2022 at Peters Funeral Home in Wagner with visitation from 1 to 2 PM. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner.

Jean Ann Crosby, daughter of Dr. Miles and Ethel (Caton) Sellers, was born September 27, 1932 in Wagner, SD. She died May 13, 2022 at her daughter's home in Rapid City under hospice care. Jean Ann attained the age of 89 years, 7 months and 16 days.

Jean Ann was baptized on April 7, 1935 at the First Lutheran Church in Brookings. She was confirmed on April 14, 1946 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner.

Jean Ann attended school in Wagner, graduating in 1950. She received her Associate Teachers Degree at Southern State Teachers College in Springfield. Jean Ann taught rural school in the Wagner area for two years and worked several years as a teachers aide at the Wagner School District.

Jean Ann married Ed Jaeger and two children were born to their union. She later married Jim Crosby and assisted at the funeral home for many years. They retired in 1984 and moved to Rapid City and wintered in Sun City, AZ. After Jim's death on August 17, 2012, Jean Ann moved back to Rapid City.

Jean Ann will be remembered for her love for her grandkids, love of birds, feeding animals in her back yard and her flowers. She was a great cook and will be remembered for her great potato salad.

Thankful for having shared her life are her daughter, Linda Tracer and husband Gary Sheesley and son Jim and wife Julia Jaeger, all of Rapid City; six grandchildren: Micaela McLane, Miles (Brianna) McLane, Chase (Stacie) McLane, Jillian (Ben) Minihan, Alison (Zach) Zephier and Jenae (Brandon) Tycz; 13 great grandchildren: Alyssa and Wyatt Windham, Tyler and Baylee McLane, McCoy and Adia McLane, William and Lowen Minihan, Zavier, Akiah and Zaiden Zephier, and Raya and Rhett Tycz; brother Jim (Elaine) Sellers of Pickstown; three nephews and a niece.

Jean Ann was preceded in death by her husband Jim; her parents; two stillborn sons; and "adopted" sister Dorothy Nielsen.
