Jean Von Eschen, 97, of Wagner

Memorial Services will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Inurnment is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Jean Rae Von Eschen, daughter of Alexander and Emma (Schuldt) Liddell, was born July 16, 1912 at Oakes, ND. She died Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Jean attained the age of 97 years, three months and four days.

Jean graduated from high school in Oakes, ND. She married LeRoy Von Eschen at Oakes on April 11, 1936. Five children were born to their union.

Jean worked as a secretary for a whole sale grocery store before her marriage. After her marriage and moving to the Wagner area, she worked for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.

Jean was a member of the United Methodist church, United Methodist Women, Rebecca's and AARP.

Jean loved to play Bridge and cards. She enjoyed her flowers, especially her roses and pansies.

Thankful for having shared her life are her children: Sheila and husband Wayne Cihak of Parker, CO; Marcia and husband Herb Whetstine of Lakeville, MN; Neil and wife Diane of Wagner; and Tom and wife Polly of Rockford, MI; two stepsons: Robert and wife Mary and Jack, all of Boulder, CO; daughter-in-law, Inge Von Eschen of Menomonie, WI; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband on February 13, 1975; son James on October 30, 2004; one granddaughter; five brothers: Roy, Hamlin, Roderick, Ian Neil, and Thomas who died as an infant; and two sisters: Elizabeth Liddell and Margaret Harris.
