Jerry Coenen, 59, of Lake Andes, SD

Jerry entered the Spirity World on Monday, May 30, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Cedar Presbyterian Church, rural Pickstown, SD. Wake services are Thursday at the church. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry Coenen was born June 8, 1951 in O'Neill, NE, the son of Joe and Marie (Jensen) Coenen.

Jerry attended various schools in South Dakota and Nebraska because Joe worked in the construction of the dams on the Missouri river and later retired to Burwell, NE, where Jerry grduated from high school. From high school Jerry was drafted and served in Germany where he became a truck driver and continued trucking until 2007. Jerry loved trucking. He pulled a grain and livestock trailer for years and then switched to over the road, pulling a flatbed. He was forced to retire after 36 years due to failing health.

In 1974, Jerry married Bonnie DeMoss at Lake Andes, SD. They made their home in Spencer, NE until 1991 when they moved to South Dakota. Jerry's children are: Deena, Dawn and Mike of Lake Andes; David and wife Crystal of Bonesteel; and Cheryl and Travis of SIoux Falls. Jerry's grandchildren are: Latisha, Hannah, Tristen, Davion, Riley, Chianne and Samantha.
Mourning Jerry's passing also are his brothers: Robert and wife Linda of Spencer, NE, Anton of Tecumseh, NE and sister, Karen and husband Gary Ferris of Inman, NE; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; relatives and friends.

Preceding Jerry in death are his parents, Marie and Joe Coenen; infant twin brothers; and two sisters: Mary Ann Scherbarth and Sandra Warner.
