Jimmie Pickner, 80, of Yankton
Jimmie died Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Avera Sacred Heart Majestic Bluffs in Yankton. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Peters Funeral Chapel in Springfield.
Jimmie Ray Pickner was born on March 23, 1942 in Gann Valley, SD to Lloyd and Anna (Franek) Pickner. He had two brothers, Larry and Troy, and two sisters, Echo Pickner-Willman and Twila Pickner-Kotilinek. He graduated high school from Gann Valley in 1960. He then joined the Navy and spent a 3-year tour in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
After Jimmie's service to his country, he returned to the Gann Valley area and married Betty Willman in 1966. They had three sons: Kelly James Pickner in 1967, Mark Raymond Pickner in 1969, and Michael Lloyd Pickner in 1970. The family lived in Wessington Springs, SD; Sioux City, IA; and Fort Morgan, CO.
In 1982, Jimmie moved to Brush, CO where he married Mary Lou Crane. The couple was married for 15 years. In 1997, Jimmie moved back to the Springfield area where he enjoyed many activities.
Jimmie was a lifetime member of North American Hunting Club. He loved to fish, hunt, and talk to his friends. He was an avid card player and proud Navy veteran. He loved playing chess with his grandchildren.
Jimmie is survived by: son Kelly (Kellie) Pickner and grandson Kody: son Mark Pickner and granddaughters Bri and Sarina; son Michael (Tammy) Pickner and grandsons: Michael (Amanda Solberg) Connor and Matthew Pickner, great-granddaughter Emma Connor; Patrick (Gabriela) Connor and great-grandson Jonah Connor. He is also survived by step-granddaughters Natausha Swanlund, Maranda Swanlund, Jenna Mendoza, and Amanda Robbins; and sister-in-law Marlena Crane Zluticky.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Echo and brother Troy.
