Joan Marilyn Borgstadt, 60, of Mitchell

A funeral service will be held at Grace Baptist Church in Mitchell 11:00 a.m. Tuesday October 16, 2012, with a fellowship lunch following until 2 pm. After the service she will be laid to rest at the Z.C.B.J. Cemetery in Wagner, SD. Visitation will be at the church Monday, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home of Wagner is in charge of the arrangements.

Joan Marilyn Borgstadt, 60, died Friday morning, October 12, 2012, after a brave battle with multiple myeloma cancer. Surrounded by her loving husband and family, she passed peacefully in her sleep to join her Savior in heaven.

Joan was born June 10, 1952 in Armour, SD to Emil and Sara Lorraine (Smith) Fuchs. She married Jim Borgstadt on August 11, 1984 in Mitchell. She was a mother of four and grandmother of eleven, with one more to come in May 2013. Joan Marilyn, brought love and joy into every life she touched. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, gardening, cooking, playing with grandchildren and most of all a good laugh.

Joan grew to know many in the Mitchell area from her time working at Fanny Horner's
Restaurant, Casey's General Store, and Walmart.

Joan was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Mitchell.

Thankful for having shared her life are her husband Jim of Mitchell; four children: John and wife Heather Wages of Litchfield, CT; Christa (Wages) DeJong and husband Dean of Springfield; Sara (Borgstadt) Klich and husband Lance of Woonsocket; and Amanda Borgstadt and Rob Kubik of Salem; 11 grandchildren; her siblings: Dennis Fuchs; Shirley (Fuchs) Simms; Bob Fuchs; and Kathy (Fuchs) Piersol; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her infant daughter Lori; parents; sister Barbara (Fuchs) Schulz; and brother-in-law David Piersol.
