JoAnn Hofeldt, 87, of Wagner

JoAnn died Monday, November 16, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 6 PM at the Peters Funeral Home in Wagner. Burial is in the Grand View Cemetery in Long Pine, NE at 1:30 PM, Friday, November 20, 2020.

JoAnn Hofeldt was born near Newport, NE on November 6, 1933, the daughter of Job and Ruth (Doyle) Boon. She died Monday, November 16, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall, SD.

JoAnn was a member of the last high school class to graduate from Newport, NE in 1952. She attended Chadron State College and obtained her teaching certificate. She taught at various country schools in western Nebraska.

JoAnn married Gene Hofeldt on May 28, 1955 at Rapid City. She eventually earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of South Dakota on July 30, 1981. She taught at Marty Indian School for 13 years until retiring.

JoAnn will be remembered for her love of crocheting, knitting, sewing, cooking, baking and teaching school.

JoAnn is survived by her three children: Janet (Robert) Norton of Valentine, NE, Alan Graves of Ainsworth, NE and Mike Hofeldt of Menno, SD; five grandchildren: Levi Hofeldt, Blair Hofeldt, Kristen Hofeldt, Shelby Hofeldt and Christina Mayotte; many great grandchildren; two brothers: James (Rose) Boon of Jacksonville, FL and Joe (Marie) Boon of Shevlin, MN; and her sister Linda (Ron) Bestul of Surprise, AZ.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers: Earl, Dennis, Millen and Max Boon; her sister Patsy Boon and great granddaughter Lily Sue Hofeldt.
