JoAnn Mareska, 84, of Wagner

A Memorial Mass will be 10 AM, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. John's Catholic Church in Wagner. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery, rural Wagner. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

JoAnn Mareska, daughter of Malcolm & Pauline (Steele) McEntaffer was born August 5, 1933 at Emerson, NE. She married Wayne Mareska on December 26, 1955 in Wagner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She died Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the Oakview Terrace Nursing Home in Freeman.
JoAnn graduated from Ravinia High School in 1951. After graduating she headed west and worked in various lodges in the Black Hills. Her specialty was trail rides and caring for the horses, one of which she bought and brought back with her when she came back to Ravinia. During this time she also journeyed to Britt, IA and worked for her uncle in his jewelry store. JoAnn lived in Springfield, Huron, Carthage in SD and Lincoln, NE before moving back to Wagner.
JoAnn served as an EMT in Wagner. She also worked part time for Northwestern Public Service.
Thankful for having shared her life are her brothers Richard McEntaffer and wife Sharon of Pierre, and Jerry McEntaffer of Ravinia; four nieces: Sandy Douglas, Donna Wayne, Tammy Degrew and Sherri Giiarmis; and four nephews: Barry Johnson, Randy Johnson, Bill McEntaffer and Dennis McEntaffer.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Mareska, her parents, and sister Betty Jane Johnson.
