Joel Nesheim, 67, of Mitchell
Joel died Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell. Funeral services are 10 AM, Thursday, December 10, 2015 at New Home Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Burial is in the New Home Lutheran Cemetery, rural Mitchell. Visitation will be at the church, with family present from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday, followed by a 7 PM Prayer Service. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
Joel was born on June 19, 1948 to Clarence and Ruth (Nearhood) Nesheim in Mitchell SD. He graduated from Ethan High School in 1966. On June 2, 1972, Joel married Rose Schoenfelder. Two children were blessed to their union. He worked at Davison County Highway Department for 35 years.
Joel was a member of New Home Lutheran Church, the Ethan Trailriders and the morning coffee club at Marlin's. The highlight of his life was his grandchildren and especially going to all their school and sporting events. Joel biggest love, next to his family, was his wagon and horses. Every chance he got to go on a wagon train, he went. His fondest wagon train memory is making it the whole way from Yankton to Pierre on the South Dakota 125th Wagon train in 2014.
Thankful for sharing his life are his wife Rose, Mitchell; his children: Terry Nesheim and special friend Brandi, Dimock; Katie and husband Darin Moke, Mt.Vernon; grandchildren: Patience, Bella and Jaron Nesheim and Summer and Brean Moke; sisters: Susan Nesheim, Ethan, Laura and husband Chuck Bagley, Sioux Falls; brothers: Leland and wife Diane Nesheim, Ethan, Brian Nesheim and wife Dee, Ethan, and sister-in-law Bernadette Nesheim, Viborg.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Ruth Nesheim; his in-laws Pete and Lumina Schoenfelder; brother Dennis Nesheim; sister-in-law Jan Schoenfelder; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
