John Douglas Haar was born on April 24, 1953, to Dorothy Olson and Don Haar. John grew up in Wagner, SD, he never wanted to move out of Wagner. His life passion was hunting and fishing. He was a very talented man who worked as a tractor mechanic for many years. He had many hobbies and loved what he did. He enjoyed gardening and canning what he grew. He loved to go out and forage for plums, chokecherries, and wild mushrooms. John was always on the lookout for any new thing to harvest.

John's first marriage was to Denise Efta and through this marriage, his son, Jeremy Charles "Boogie" Haar was born on March 26, 1976. John's second marriage was to Lisa Arrow. Through this union, he had a second son, Jacob Drapeau born on December 2, 1997. Both of his sons were John's heart; he loved them immensely and was always a very proud daddy.

John was a good, kind, gentle, and generous man who would always lend a helping hand to anyone needing it if he could. He possessed a calm and compassionate spirit, with a sense of humor and a way of communicating that drew you to him.

He suffered with his illness, but held his humor with it to the end. He learned to pray and lean on his faith. John was baptized at the Living Stone Apostolic Church in Vermillion, SD on April 17, 2022.

John said "I lived a good life. I did it, doing what I loved, hunting and fishing. I was blessed with good friends and the love of family. What more could you ask for!"
