John Kranig, 67, of Mitchell
Funeral services are 10 AM, Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner, with military honors. Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM, followed by a 7 PM Prayer Service at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home. ?
John Wayne Kranig was born August 15, 1945 in Wagner, SD, the son of Harold Sr. and Mary (Buchtel) Kranig. He died Saturday, September 29, 2012 at The Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
John went to country school near Wagner and graduated from Ravinia High School in 1964. He attended a business college for two years in Rapid City.
John served in the US Army from 1966 to 1969. He then worked for Burton Evers Insurance for a few years and also farmed with his brother, Dennis, when his father was unable to do it. He also stayed home to help take care of his mother until her death in 2000. John moved to Mitchell and worked for a meat packer and then for Goodwill until health problems prevented him from working.
John will be remembered for his love of reading, doing crossword puzzles, coin collecting and watching movies.
Thankful for having shared his life are his daughter, Maryetta Kranig of Sioux Falls; sister, Karen Zoss of Armour; sisters-in-law: Bonita Kranig of Geddes, Anita Kranig of Yankton and Teddi Kranig of Wagner; special niece, Vicki Kranig of Ethan; and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Harold Jr., Dennis and Robert; and brother-in-law, Ivan Zoss.
