John Thaler, 85 of Wagner

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 15, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner, with burial in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be 2 to 7 pm Friday, followed by a prayer service at Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner.

John Thaler, son of Albert J. and Mary (Valenta) Thaler, was born March 30, 1925 in Wagner, SD. He died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. John attained the age of 85 years, one month and 11 days.

John attended Choteau Creek Country School #5 through the eighth grade. He married Loraine Lehrkamp on February 14, 1954 in Wagner. Three daughters were blessed to their union.

John worked for Jack's Champlain for 21 years. He also worked for Norm's Service and John's Tire Service in Wagner.

John was an honorary member of the Dante Lake Club.

John will be remembered for his enjoyment of hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards. He especially loved raising rabbits.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Loraine of Wagner; daughters: Vicky Semmler of Sioux Falls; Kathy Greeneway and husband Dave of Yankton; and Sherry Thaler of Yankton; three grandchildren: Katie Greeneway, Evan Greeneway and Jenny (Semmler) Kurtz and husband Bill; two great grandchildren: Autumn and Ainsley Kurtz; three brothers: Raymond of Wagner; George of Augusta, GA; and Leo of Lawton, OK; one sister, Dorothy Honomichl of Chamberlain; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

receded in death by his parents; grandson, Dennis Semmler; an infant sister; and five brothers: Louis, Ed, Roy, Adolph and Lloyd.
