Obituary

Jolene Primeaux, 61, of Marty

Funeral services will be 10 AM, Thursday, December 23, 2021 at the Community Center in Marty. Burial is in the Native American Church Cemetery, rural Wagner. Wake services will begin Monday at the Marty Community Center. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Jolene Faye Primeaux was born January 15, 1960 in Wagner, SD, to Asa Primeaux Sr. and Loretta (Rainbow) Primeaux. She died Friday, December 17, 2021 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.

Jolene was very close to her siblings. She had four sisters: Edith Foolbull, Jennifer Primeaux, Sylvia Primeaux and Tina Primeaux; and four brothers: Mike Primeaux, Sr., Gordon Primeaux, Asa Primeaux, Jr., and Gerald Primeaux, Sr.

Jolene graduated from Lake Andes Central High School on May 26, 1978. She attended Navajo Community College in Tsaile, AZ in the late 70s. While going to school, she held the royalty title of Miss Red Dawn.

After returning to Marty, Jolene worked at Marty Indian School. She also worked at various places including the Yankton Sioux Tribe, YST Housing Authority, and Canku Teca where she retired. Jolene worked on the election boards almost every year. So yes, she was a very busy woman.

Even though she had a busy life, Jolene had six children: Tyrone Wayne Primeaux, Tess Faye Primeaux, Victoria Elizabeth Horned Eagle and three others who unfortunately, she lost. She also took in another baby boy named Royce Landyn Primeaux. Jolene had five grandkids: Sheridan and Laci (Tyrone and Lea) and Erabella, Waaseyaa, and Noah (Victoria).

Jolene was a strong, beautiful, and kind hearted woman. Beautiful, a perfect word to describe Jolene. 1) An assemblage or graces or properties pleasing to the eye, the ear, the intellect, the aesthetic faculty, or the moral sense; 2) A particular grace, feature, ornament, or excellences; anything beautiful; as the beauties of nature; 3) A beautiful person, especially a beautiful woman. Enough said. There was also a lot of love in Jolene's life. She loved all her grandkids, her sisters, her brothers, and other relatives. She also loved her tv shows like the Hallmark channel, Young and the Restless and lately Yellowstone. She also loved playing Bingo and the Sizzling 7s slot machines at the casino. Jolene loved the color red and wearing crocs.

Jolene is survived by her children: Tyrone, Tess, Victoria and Royce; her sisters: Jen, Silvia and Tina; her brothers: Asa Jr., Gordon, Gerald Sr; her nieces and nephews; grandchildren; and her great grandchildren.

Jolene will be welcomed into Heaven by her "little" big sister Edith, mother Loretta, her father Asa Sr., little brother Mike, and her auntie Harriet "Babe" Rainbow Penner.
