Mass will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Assumption Catholic Church in Dante, with burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be at Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner from 12 noon to 5 pm Tuesday, followed by a 7 pm rosary/wake service at the church in Dante.

Joseph Frank "Joe" Hron, son of Joe and Agnes (Mach) Hron, was born November 30, 1911 on a farm in Bon Homme County, South Dakota. He died Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Wagner Good Samaritan Society. Joe attained the age of 98 years, five months and 17 days.

Joe attended country school through the eighth grade. He married Lillian Koupal on January 21, 1926. Three daughters were blessed to their union. The family farmed west of Wagner. Joe retired and moved into Wagner in 1970. He then worked for the Wagner Coop, Wagner Building Supply and later served as the church janitor at St. John Catholic Church. Joe entered the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner on June 16, 2005. He will be remembered for his enjoyment of spending time with his grandchildren and playing cards.

Joe was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Thankful for having shared his life are his daughters: Karen Horner and husband Dennis of Sioux Falls; Jolene Link and husband Dale of Delmont; and Diane Carda and husband John of Wagner; 11 grandchildren: Daren (Tina) Horner, Greg Link, Todd (Linsay) Link, Scott Link, Jared Carda, Jay Carda, Deona (Justin) Spicer, Kim (Jared) Ducommun, Dalene Link, Janel Carda, Jonna (James) Puckett; eight great grandchildren: Macy, Abby and Kody Horner, Kenly and Tylen Ducommun, Ayden Spicer, Brylie Link and Addison Puckett; and many nieces, nephews and relatives.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife on January 20, 1981; parents; two brothers: John and Oscar; and two sisters: Mary Bouska and Agnes Koupal.
