Juanita M. Irving, 55 of Lake Andes



Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the Cedar Presbyterian Church, rural Pickstown, with burial in the church cemetery. Wake services are being held at the Bessie Long residence in the Lake Andes New Housing. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home of Wagner is in charge of the arrangements.

Juanita Mae (Dion) Irving was born September 4, 1952 to Daniel W. and Philomene L. (Weston) Dion in Wagner, SD. She died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at her sister's home in Lake Andes after a long illness.

Juanita grew up in Snake Creek until she was 10 years old and they moved to Lake Andes. Juanita attended school in Ravinia until the second grade. She received her GED and attended the school of nursing in St. Paul, MN. Upon returning home, Juanita was hired as payroll clerk for the Yankton Sioux Tribe and worked for the tribe a total of 22 years.

Juanita was well known for her smile and her love of life in general. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, Yahtzee, Scrabble and loved playing machines at the Ft. Randall Casino.

Juanita was married to David Emery Irving, Sr. on October 15, 1985 and leaves to mourn: two sons: Jason Dion, Sr. and David Emery Irving, Jr and one daughter, Jodi Dion, all of Lake Andes; Juanita raised her grandson, Conrad Eugene Irving from three months old to present time; three sisters: Maggie Cavender, Myrtle Bruguier, Bessie Long, and one brother, Andrew Dion, all of Lake Andes; and will be missed by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and many friends.

Juanita was preceded in death by her mother, Philomene Dion; four brothers: Raymond Dion; Darrel Dion, Sr.; Lorenzo Dion, Sr.; Willard Dion and one grandson, Henry Rain Irving.
