LaVern June Leonard Carpenter, 89, of Wagner, daughter of Vern and Rose (Mead) Leonard passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side on April 20, 2015.

June was born on June 21, 1925, at the Hemple Temple Resort in Charles Mix County, South Dakota. She attended and graduated from Ravinia School in 1943. June continued her education by attending and receiving her teaching certificate from Springfield Teachers College.

June married Paul John Carpenter on June 20, 1943, from that union two daughters were born – Judy and Shelia.

June loved life! She loved shopping, fashion, decorating and traveling. Her true love, however, was her family – she was a devoted daughter caring for her parents until their deaths.

June is survived by her two daughters, Judy Carpenter Olson (Harlan), Winter Garden, FL and Shelia Kambic (Robb), Clermont, FL – by 6 grandchildren – Jonathan Olson (SaraJane) – Justine Wilson (Jeff) – Janelle McVay (Michael) – Joy McVay (Brian) – Tonya Cavalieri (William) – Joshua Kelley; 12 great-grandchildren – PaulJon & Elizabeth Olson, Jordan – Joy & Jacob Wilson – Shauna & Carter McVay – Jackson & Brianna McVay – Kristen & Maddisen Cavalieri and Jayden Kelley; niece Barbara Goodfellow (Howard) and nephew Larry (Lorna) Nielson and families.

June was proceeded in death by her parents, sister, Evelyn and brother-in-law George Nielsen.
