June Elizabeth Perry - Wagner -
June Elizabeth Perry, 78, of Wagner, died at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 10, 2011. Funeral services will be held at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Wagner at 2:00 pm Friday, July 15,2011, with the Reverend Danelle McKinney of Flandreau, SD and Reverend Patricia Whitehorse officiating. There will be no committal service.
June was born June 1, 1933 in Wagner to Sampson and Catherine (St. Pierre) Ree. She attended elementary school in Wagner and attended boarding school in Lawrence, Kansas. June met her husband, the late Marcus Perry, while he was working on the Fort Randall Dam. They were married on November 4th, 1952. Marcus and June moved to Houston, Texas shortly after they were married. June was a stay at home mother and housewife while she lived in Texas while her husband worked as an oil field supervisor, June helped in the office by keeping up with all the bookkeeping and financial aspects of the business. While residing in Texas, June enjoyed attending the rodeos and live action wrestling matches. She also enjoyed taking her children to the beach in Galveston, TX. June followed her husband throughout the state of Texas whenever he moved to a new job site for oil drilling rigs. Her sons all grew up in the oil field industry. She and her family returned to Wagner in 1982 to care for her ailing mother, Catherine Ree. When June's parents passed away, she and her husband became managers of the Marty grocery store where they worked for several years. Upon the death of her husband in 1994, June began working at the Fort Randall Casino and Hotel as a telephone operator. She was employed there until 2008 when she fell ill. June enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling to Flandreau, South Dakota and Albuquerque, New Mexico. She lived her life for her children. June had a great talent for sketching and drawing which she passed down to her children.
Survivors include her three daughters, Kimberly Decoteau of Flandreau, S.D. Elizabeth Perry of Wagner, S.D. Katherine Tolth of Albuquerque, N.M. seven sons, Gale Perry of Flandreau, S.D., Mark Perry of Alvin, TX, David Perry of Flandreau, S.D., Kenneth Perry of Wagner, S.D., Marcus Perry Jr. of Rapid City, S.D., and Tracy Perry of Sioux Falls, S.D. 28 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Perry, her parents, Sampson and Catherine Ree, a son, Marcus Calvin Perry, her sisters, Violet Harris and Hilda Irene Ree and brother, Antoine Ree.
