Karen F. (Wright) Chavez, 65 of Rosebud
Funeral services were 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the White Swan Center in Lake Andes, with burial in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Greenwood. Wake services were held at the White Swan Center. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home of Wagner was in charge of the arrangements.
Karen was born September 19, 1947 to Steve and Alfreda (Drapeaux) Wright at Wagner, SD. She had five brothers: John, Louie, Butch, Anthony "Inky" and Conrad; six sisters: Norma Fasthorse, Sandra Wade, Teddy Mae, Rochelle "Penny", Patty and Susan "Suzie" Crutcher.
She married Henry Silk and to this union three children were born: Cheryl Jean (Silk) Romero, Richard Arnold Silk and Brent Allen Silk. She later married Mike Chavez, together they raised two grandchildren: Katrina Silk and Henry Romero I.
Karen spent time working with gang intervention and prevention with her husband. She had also worked with the elderly for a few years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, talking on the phone and sharing stories.
She entered the happy hunting grounds on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Salem, SD. She will be laid to rest with her parents; daughter, Cheryl J (SIlk) Romero; brothers: Butch, Louie, Anthony "Inky" and Conrad; and sister, Patty.
