Kathleen Jackson, 32, of Sioux Falls
Kathleen died Sunday, March 26, 2023 at her home in Sioux Falls after an extended illness.
Funeral services are 2 PM, Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Marty Community Center. Burial is in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery in Greenwood. Wake services will begin Thursday at the Marty Community Center. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
Kathleen was born in Minneapolis, MN on May 28, 1990 to Mother Melissa Faith Bruguier and Father Marvin Bruce Jackson.
When Kathleen was 5 years old, she Sundance 1 deal in Pipestone, MN. She believed our Sacred Ways.
As a young child she always had a smile on er face. When she started walking, she'd roll up her fist and say EAT!!
Kathleen attend 4 Directions School in Minneapolis, MN. In high school she attended Flandreau Indian School and lather on in her Junior year, she attended Chimawa Indian School and graduated from there.
Kathleen loved to go to Pow-wows and never wanted to leave. At a young age she started fancy dancing. The more she danced the better she got. She started placing 1st at pow-wows. She will be remembered for her unique style of dancing. Kathleen had a generous heart and she'd give her last dollar to a homeless person.
Kathleen had 3 children; Leanna Marie Red Buffalo, Landon Walking Eagle, and Chistins Walking Eagle. She has 2 sisters; Alexis Montana Jackson and Trina Bordeaux and 7 Brothers; Tim Arcoren Jr, Shawn Arcoren, Corey Arcoren, Melvin Eagle III, Marvin Bruce Jackson, JJ Jackson, and Dalton Jackson. Kathleen has many family and friends.
Kathleen held the title of Miss Ft. Randall casino. She enjoyed creating new designs for her dresses. She loved to travel and dance at various Pow-wows all over Indian Country. Kathleen loved music and enjoyed getting dolled up and going to concerts or the slub to dance. Most of all Kathleen loved spending time with her children and family. Her laughter and her crazy sense of humor will be missed.
Kathleen traveled to Standing Rock for the NO DAPL Protest and participated in the MMIW walk. Kathleen also walked with her daughter Leanna in the missing and murdered Indian Women.
