Kurah Kathleen Drapeaux was born to Agnes Marie Drapeaux and Mindy Ann Houser July 30, 2008 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD. Kurah was born with many disabilities and challenges, and required constant hospital visits in the first year of her life. Kurah Kathleen lived with her mom, Agnes, until she required definitive 24 hour care. At this time Mindy Ann Houser stepped in to fill this role and promptly became Kurah's second mom. Kurah then joined the Houser family: Mindy, Woody and their children Samantha, Alinia, Benjamin, and Taylor. Kurah was loved and adored by all. She was 2 years and 9 months old when she entered the spirit world on April 8, 2011 at the Children's Care Hospital and School in Sioux Falls, SD, where she was surrounded by family and friends.

Kurah leaves behind her parents and family: Agnes M. Drapeaux and family of Lakes Andes, SD; Mindy and Woody Houser and family of Beresford, SD; Jacob Bernie and family of Lake Andes, SD; many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends from near and far.

Kurah was preceded in death by her Grandmother Short Drapeaux, Grandfathers Burton Rainbow Sr. and Richard Rainbow, Great-Grandmother Faith Rainbow, and Great-Grandfather Dickie Rainbow.
Services were held at Lake Andes on April 9-12, 2011 with burial at Cedar Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements. A service in celebration of Kurah's life will be held at Roseni Lutheran Church, rural Beresford, SD on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 7pm. All who knew and loved Kurah are welcome to attend.
