Larry John Peters, 72, of Wagner
Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Monday, January 9, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner. The service will be live streamed on the St. John Lutheran Church, Wagner, SD Youtube page. Burial is in the Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation is at the church on Sunday from 4 to 6 PM. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
Larry John Peters was born December 27, 1950 in Wagner, the son of Herman Sr. and Frieda (Fauth) Peters. He died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at his home in rural Wagner.
Larry graduated from Wagner High School in 1968, where he was an All-State football player, and went to Mitchell Vo-Tech in 1970. He farmed northeast of Wagner and worked as a John Deere mechanic and in parts his whole career. He retired in 2012.
Larry was united in marriage to the love of his life, Karen (Schettler) Eimers in Parkston on October 12, 1996 and he enjoyed spoiling her. Larry will be remembered for his love of his extended family and took trips to Florida, Wisconsin Dells and Rapid City with them.
Larry was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner, where he served in a variety of roles. God was very important in Larry's life.
Larry will be remembered for his enjoyment of Sudoku, crossword puzzles, putting puzzles together, reading, singing Karaoke, and working on the farm getting it into shape. Larry and Karen enjoyed traveling around the US and learning the history of the areas they went to.
Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Karen of Wagner, two stepsons: Jeramie (Kristi) Eimers of Tea and Justin (Jen) Eimers of Tea; six grandchildren: Preston, Connor, Austin, Dawson, Kade and Ali Eimers; two brothers: Herman Peters Jr. and Kenneth (Marianne) Peters of Scotland; brother-in-law Douglas Koupal of Dante; and many relatives and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary, and two sisters: Sharon Harrington and Janet Koupal.
