Obituary

Lewis Ven Osdel, 45 of Springfield

His funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 21, 2007 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield, with burial at the Emanuel Cemetery, rural Springfield. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield Thursday from 12 noon to 8 pm, with the family present from 7 to 8.

Lewis Loren Ven Osdel, son of Dean and Mildred (Hafner) Ven Osdel, was born May 3, 1962 at Freeman, SD. He died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at St. Michael's Hospital in Tyndall, SD. Lewis attained the age of 45 years, four months and 15 days.

Lewis graduated from Freeman High School in 1980. He married Donna Wiebenga on April 16,1982 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield. They made their home in Springfield and raised their three children there.

Lewis worked at Chicago Rawhide in Springfield for 23 years. He then started his own heating and cooling service business called Custom Fabrications. Lewis enjoyed helping his community and helping the people in it.

Lewis was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield and the Springfield Chamber of Commerce.

Lewis loved the Missouri River and farming. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and just being outdoors. Lewis loved watching his children in their activities, especially Cavalier football and Springfield girls' softball.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife, Donna of Springfield; sons: Luke and wife, Ann of Springfield, and Jeremy of Yankton; daughter, Mackenzie at home; his mother of Yankton; four brothers: Ivan of Hill City, Danny and wife, Lisa of Gayville, Wade of Yankton, and Clay and wife, Bridgette of Willmar, MN; one sister, Jan Johnson and husband, Steve of Hill City; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lewis was preceded in death by his father; grandparents; and his parents-in-law, Ben and Gert Wiebenga.
