Lila J. Zacharias, 86 of Wagner
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante, with burial in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 5 at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner, with a 7 p.m. Rosary/Wake at the the church in Dante.
Lila Joyce Zacharias, daughter of Ed and Nettie (Young) Weber, was born November 26, 1926 in Wagner. She died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Armour. Lila attained the age of 86 years, one month and 16 days.
LIla graduated from Wagner School and then attended Southern Normal in Springfield where she earned her teaching degree. She taught country school for a couple of years.
Lila married Wesley J. Zacharias on February 13, 1945 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante. They farmed south of Wagner from 1945 to 1995. Upon their retirement, they moved into Wagner. Lila and Wes became residents of the Golden Living Center in Armour on August 22, 2011. Wes died September 7, 2012.
Lila was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church, Altar Society, a life time member of the VFW Auxiliary, where she was active at the District and State level, and the Card Club. Lila also served as a 4-H leader for many years.
Lila will be remembered for her great cooking and baking, her enjoyment of fishing and her big heart and smile.
Thankful for having shared her life are her children: James of Wagner; Larry (Danielle) of Astor, FL; Jane (John) Blaha of Dante; Nancy (Steven) Hermanson of Yankton; Mary Lou (Larry) Snyder of Lake Andes; Angela (Roger) Blaha of Wagner; and David (Debora) of Long Pine, NE; 24 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; three brothers: John (Elaine) of Parkston; Dale (Shirley) of Salem; and Dean (Karen) of Wagner; one sister, Elaine Anderson of Mitchell; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Weber of Wagner and Angeline Minnehan of Aurora, CO; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter Anne Marie; daughter-in-law, Mary; two brothers: Lester and Edward Weber; and two brothers-in-law: Bill Anderson and Robert Minnehan.
