Lillian died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Funeral Mass will be 11 AM, Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Catholic Church in Dante, with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, rural Dante. Visitation will be Friday from 11 AM until 5 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner. Rosary/Wake services are 7:30 PM, Friday at the church.
Lillian Veronica Blaha was born February 25, 1920 on the family farm north of Dante, the daughter of Frank and Ann (Carda) Hron. She died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Society of Wagner. Lillian attained the age of 91 years and 11 days.
Lillian attended country school through the eighth grade. She helped on the farm and helped her sister Adeline Kotab in the raising of her children.
Lillian married Ralph Blaha on November 4, 1941 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Catholic Church in Dante. Five children were born to their union. Together they farmed south of Dante and later moved to a farm west of Dante. They moved into Wagner in February of 1977. Ralph died September 4, 1984. Lillian became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner on March 27, 2008.
Lillian was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Altar Society. She also was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and KD.
Lillian will be remembered for her enjoyment of playing Bingo, gardening and quilting.
Thankful for having shared her life are her children: Frances Hochstein and husband Gerry of Fordyce, Ne, Sylvia Beeson and husband Larry and Charlene Beeson and husband Gary, all of Wagner, Joe and wife Berin of Vallejo, CA, and Cindy Ishmael and husband Joe of Winner; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a great grandson; three brothers: William "Bill", Jim and Adam: and seven sisters: Emma Simon, Mary Hron, Stella Hron, Clara Kafka, Sophie Kafka, Helen Rados and Adeline Kotab.
