Linda McBride, 72, of Wagner


Linda died Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral  services are 1 PM, Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Marty. Burial is in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery. Wake services will begin Monday at the Wagner National Guard Armory.

Linda was born to Katherine T. SpiderWood-Honomichl and Arthur D. Honomichl, Sr. at the PHS of Wagner, SD. Linda attended St. Paul's Indian Boarding School from 1st grade to 6th grade, at the time of her father's passing on February 8, 1967, when she quit school.

She was sixteen when she met the love of her life, Darrel Dewayne McBride, Sr. and they were united in marriage on 10/1/1971, at Charles Mix County Court House, witnessed by her Aunt Maxine Rouse. Linda and Darrel lived in Choteau Creek area with Darrel's grandmother, MaLee Bates until moving to South Housing in Wagner in the mid 70s where they raised their children.

During their union they had 4 children; 2 sons Darrell D. McBride, Jr. "Wakinyan Cante" "Peanuts" and Brent Dean McBride, "Paska", both deceased, and 2 daughters; Wanda Marie "DeeDee" McBride and Pearline Elaine McBride.

Linda had worked various jobs, Linda started her career at the Fort Randall Casino in 1991 as a change person and then became a floor person. Linda next transferred into the security department as telephone operator for the casino. She retired in 2021 from FRC after 29 years of service.

Linda loved to "shawl dance" especially at the local traditional pow-wow in Lake Andes, SD. She just loved to dance in general

Linda left to the other side camp on her seventy-second birthday at 4:09am. Her daughters DeeDee and Pearline were by her side and two hours before her leaving, her daughters blessed her with a Facebook post, "Warmest wishes to my incredible, loving, caring, beautiful mom, Linda on celebrating her 72 years of spreading love and light. Also expressing gratefulness to their mom for being in their life and for her selflessness and devotion that inspired them and so many others, thanking their mom for being such an amazing mother and role model.

Linda cherished all her takoja's; Darrell Jr.'s son, Devin McBride, her daughter Wanda's sons Caden and Terrell Kazena; her daughter Pearline's daughter Precious Dreams McBride and son Mason "Brenton" Darrell McBride and her great grandchildren, Caden John's daughter Caia Kazena and Terrel Dale's daughter Talia Kazena and son Myles Kazena.

Linda is survived by her two daughters: Wanda "DeeDee" McBride and Pearline McBride; her brothers: Arthur Honomichl, Jr., (who she looked up to), Arnold Honomichl, Kenneth Honomichl; and sisters Agnes Joseph-Honomichl (also who she looked up to), Mabel "Judy" Honomichl, Charlene Honomichl, Anne Honomichl, Veronica Honomichl, and baby sis Elizabeth "Baby" Honomichl; and all her many nieces and nephews; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, too many to mention,; and also her beloved friend, William "Bugz" Flood III.

Preceding her in death to the spirit world is her husband, Darrell McBride, Sr., her sons Darrell, Jr. "Peanuts", and Brent McBride, her mother and father, her brothers: Francis "Boomana" Bernie, Michael Honomichl, and Larry Honomichl, Mickey Honomichl; sister Mary "Sissy" Bernie and many other relatives.

Linda will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her sweet loving kind spirit.
