Lionel "Jim" Robertson, Jr. of Wagner
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner. Burial will be at the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner, with military honors. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner Monday from 4 to 7:30, followed by a prayer service.
Lionel "Jim" Robertson, Jr. was born in rural Wagner on June 28, 1938, the son of Lionel and Minnie (Yusten) Robertson, Sr. He died Saturday, January 28, 2017 after a battle with congestive heart failure at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Jim attained the age of 78 years and seven months.
Jim received his grade school education at Wahehe Country Schools #1 and #2 and graduated from Wagner High School in 1956. He served in the United States Army in Germany from 1961 to 1963. Jim ranched and farmed with his brother Clarence until his death in 2002. He continued on the farm with his nephews Jay and Mike Robertson. Due to failing health, Jim became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society on August 25, 2016. He will be remembered for his love of his family, farming and raising cattle.
Jim was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the VFW Post #7319 in Wagner.
Thankful for having shared his life are his sister, Mary Ann Mitchell and husband Dean of Lake Andes; many nieces and nephews and their families; sister-in-law, Diana Schroeder; many friends and his dog, Henry.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Arthur, Donald and Clarence; a sister Florence, who died in infancy; and nephew Jack Robertson.
