Lois F. Hyde, 81 of Yankton and formerly of Wagner
died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Yankton Care Center in Yankton, SD. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner with Pastor Duane Coates officiating. Burial will be in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner Friday from 11 am to 6 p.m.
Lois Fae Hyde, daughter of Orville and Edna (Dunsmore) Woods, was born December 16, 1929 on a farm near Wagner, SD. She died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Yankton Care Center in Yankton, SD. Lois attained the age of 81 years, six months and 27 days.
Lois was one of 16 children blessed to her parents' union. She attended rural school and graduated form Wagner High School.
Lois married William "Bud" Hyde on June 1, 1948 in Wagner. Two sons were blessed to their union. They farmed on the home place along the river bottom until Bud retired in 1988. Bud moved into the Heritage Court in Wagner in 1995 and Lois remained on the farm. In 2005, they moved to Yankton. Due to failing health, Bud entered the Sister James Care Center in Yankton on May 27, 2009 and he died there on September 4, 2009. Lois entered the Avera Yankton Care Center on February 1, 2010.
Lois was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Lois will be remembered for her love of gardening - especially her flowers, music, canning, farm life and her smile.
Thankful for having shared her life are her five sisters: LaVonne Hastings of Juno Beach, FL; LaVelle Jiricek of Yankton; Shirley Carda and husband Steven of Hobbs, NM; Karen Dvorak and husband Leonard of Lake Andes; and Sandra Taggart of Yankton; three brothers: Norman Woods and wife Joan of Wagner; Verlin and Don (Bonnie) Woods all of Yankton; and many nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband on September 4, 2009; her sons: Randall on June 4, 1983 and Lance on December 30, 1988; four sisters: Darlene Woods, Frances Martin, Velma Vondette and Mary (Lassen) Woods; and three brothers: Robert, Orville and Delmar "Pete" Woods.
