Lois Simek, 87, of Avon
Lois died Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall. Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church in Avon. Burial is the Tyndall Cemetery, rural Tyndall. Visitation is Friday from 5 to 7 PM at the church.
Lois R. Simek was born June 8, 1932 on a farm near Freeman to Philip and Ada (Janzig) Mensch. She died February 3, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall.
Lois attended Avon High School and later completed her GED. She married Albert Simek on May 23, 1949 in Avon. Lois worked at Mensch's Flower Shop as a florist with her mother. She and Albert later purchased the North Vue Motel & Laundromat and operated the business until retiring. In her retirement years she worked at Hardware Hank and also helped her daughter Carol at The Flower Shop and her brother Lyle at the wholesale greenhouse.
Lois was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved taking trips and going to visit her grandkids out of state. Lois was a very good baker. Her family loved her kolaches, kuchen and brownies.
Thankful for having shared her life are her husband Albert of the Tyndall Good Samaritan Society; three children: Charles and Laura of Salt Lake City, UT, Carol (Vern) Tolsma of Avon and Deborah (Amir) Behjani of Salt Lake City, UT; seven grandchildren: Kristen Simek, Christopher Simek, Patrick Simek, Lora Tolsma, Mindy Grubb, Scott Behjani and Cameron Behjani; nine great grandchildren; brother Lyle Mensch of Avon; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and many friends and extended family.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, children Richard and Cheryl, grandson Phillip Simek, brothers LeRoy and Lavern Mensch, and sister Lorraine Wipf.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the Tyndall Good Samaritan Society for taking such loving care of Mom.
