Loraine Boschma, 95, of Springfield
Funeral services are 2 PM, Monday, April 1, 2019 at the United Church of Christ in Springfield. Burial is in the Springfield Cemetery, rural Springfield. Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 5 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield.
Loraine Leola Boschma was born July 8, 1923 at Tyndall, South Dakota, the daughter of Henry and Kate (Bauder) Schweinforth. She died Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall. Loraine attained the age of 95 years, eight months and 20 days.
Loraine attended country school through the eighth-grade northeast of Tyndall. She was united in marriage to Richard Boschma on January 6, 1948 at Scotland. Together they farmed west of Springfield from 1948 until they retired in 1989 and moved into Springfield. Loraine was a lady of kindness and caring who enjoyed keeping a neat farmstead and home. A home that was always open and where she was the lady of hospitality.
Loraine was an active member of the UCC Church, UCC Women's Fellowship and the Springfield American Legion Auxiliary.
Loraine will be remembered for her love of making afghans, arts and crafts, sewing, gardening, cleaning and mowing.
Thankful for having shared her life are her son Paul R. Boschma of Springfield, grandson Michael Boyechko Boschma of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada; sister-in-law Bessie Hornstra; and several nieces and nephews: Randy Ferwerda, Karen (Ferwerda) Klinkner, Kendra (Ferwerda) Kattelmann, Bryan Ferwerda, Ronnie Hornstra, Eugene Hornstra, James Hornstra, John Hornstra, Darrell Boschma, Dennis Boschma, Leonard Boschma, JoEllen Boschma and Mary Boschma.
Loraine was preceded in death by her husband Richard on April 17, 2001; infant son; parents; sister Luetta and her husband Merle Ferwerda; in-laws Fred Hornstra, Joe Boschma and wife Ann; along with niece Lois Boschma.
