Loyola C. (Hanten) Myers was born February 22, 1926 in Platte, SD to Nick and Susan (Liebrick) Hanten. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 8, 2019 at her home in the Meadow View Manor in Avon.
She moved when young and grew up near White Lake on a farm. She was one of 12 children (6 girls and 6 boys). Loyola went to school in White Lake at parochial school grades 1-6, 7th & 8th at a country school and attended high school in White Lake, graduating in 1944. Loyola planned to spend a year at home helping her mother and then go to college. That fall, some board members came to the house and wanted her to teach at a rural school. She taught that year and then went to college at Notre Dame in Mitchell for two years and two years at Southern State College in Springfield. Loyola taught for seven years in rural schools and in Avon for 22 years. After retiring, she volunteered for several years at the school.
Loyola married Harold Merritt Myers on April 23, 1949 in Valentine, NE. They were blessed with four children: Randall, Terrill, Merrill and Deborah.
Loyola will be remembered for her love of the Lord, love for her family, vacations with her sisters and visiting the relatives, crocheting, reading, putting puzzles together, watching the game shows and coffee with the ladies.
Loyola was a member of the TAU Chapter, Avon Legion Auxiliary, and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Dante.
