Lucille Cihak, 100, of Dante
Lucille died Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante. Burial is in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, rural Dante. Visitation is Friday from 2 to 5 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner followed by Rosary/Wake services at 7 PM at the church in Dante.
Lucille Maxine Cihak, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Cuka) Pekas, was born December 18, 1916 on a farm near Dante, SD. She died peacefully Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Lucille attained the age of 100 years, three months and 10 days.
Lucille married Edward Cihak on November 22, 1937. Four children were blessed to their union. Together they farmed near Dante. In 1975, they moved into Dante, where Lucille worked at Blaha Grocery Store and then they later moved to Wagner. Ed became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society on August 25, 2006. In 2012, Lucille became a resident of the Assisted Living Center. Ed died July 28, 2014. On July 28, 2015, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society.
Lucille was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante, St. Mary's Altar Society and the Dante Card Club.
Lucille enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, baking, cooking and sharing her talents. She will long be remembered for her faithfulness to the Church and her dedication to the Rosary.
Thankful for having shared her life are her two daughters: Marlene Stone and husband Russel of Wagner and Virginia (Soukup) Sadler of San Leon, TX; daughter-in-law, Betty Cihak of Lake Norden; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Edward; infant daughter, Judy; son Marvin; grandson Paul Cihak; parents; brother, Joe Pekas and wife Dorothy; sister, Helen Cihak and husband Adolph; sister-in-law, Adeline Rokusek and husband George; and brother-in-law, Albert Cihak and wife Dorothy.
