Maggie Cavender, 71, of Lake Andes
Funeral services were 2 PM, Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the Cedar Presbyterian Church, rural Pickstown. Burial was in the church cemetery. Wake services began Monday at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.
Magdalene Ruth Cavender was born August 13, 1944, to Daniel W. Dion and Philomene L. (Weston) Dion in Wagner, South Dakota. She passed away at her home in Lake Andes on Sunday, August 23, 2015.
She grew up in Snake Creek and was Raised by Daddy Johnny and Mom Minnie Clair. On March 24, 1962, Magdalene and Vincent Cavender were married.
Magdalene worked many years as a social worker and retired due to her health.
Maggie was a member of Cedar Presbyterian Church and also active in the Native American Church.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maggie enjoyed going to bingo, playing cards and cooking for her family.
Maggie leave to mourn four daughters: Roxanne (Kenny Honomichl), Ramona, Sherry and Lavonne (Brent Milk) Cavender; adopted son, Everett "Nig" Leroy; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; sisters: Myrtle Bruguier, Bessie Long; and a brother Andrew Dion.
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband Vincent; son, Gene; and a grandson Eli; her parents: John and Minnie Clair, Daniel and Philomene Dion; Four brothers: Raymond Dion, Darrel Dion Sr., Lorenzo Dion Sr. and Willard Dion; and her sister Juanita Irving.
She will be missed dearly by everyone.
