Marcella D. Petrik, 75, of Custer, formerly of Wagner

Marcella died Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Custer Regional Senior Care in Custer. Funeral services are 10 AM, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner. Burial is in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Dante. Visitation is Friday with family present from 5 to 7 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner.

Marcella Dorothy (Roth) was born March 23, 1942 to Fredrick and Katherine (Winkler) Roth in Avon, SD. She died February 24, 2018 at the Custer Senior Regional Care in Custer, SD.

She attained the age of 75 years and 11 months.

Marcella attended rural school near Avon, SD and graduated at the Tyndall High School in 1960. She married the love of her life, Leo Petrik, October 31, 1961. Leo and Marcella ranched South of Dante, SD until 1968 when they move to Custer, SD. While living in Custer, she worked at the Sanitor Hospital, several years at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) starting when it first opened in 1972. She later worked at Judy's café. In 1988 Leo and Marcella moved to Wagner, SD. While living in Wagner, she worked at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home for several years before her retirement. In December 2016, Marcella moved to the Custer Regional Care and Leo moved to the Wedgewood Assisted Living in Custer, SD. They were together again when Leo moved to the Custer Regional Care in September 2017.

Marcella was a member of the Wagner Lutheran Church and the Post 11, Wagner American Legion Auxiliary.

Marcella will be remembered as a kind loving soul with a heart of gold.

She loved cooking, especially for her family, dogs, playing cards, bingo, dancing and listening to music. Spending time with her family and friends was her favorite thing to do and what she enjoyed the most. She also took great joy in being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her favorite color was purple and yellow roses were her favorite flower.

Thankful and blessed to having shared her life are her husband, Leo Petrik of Custer, SD. Her two daughters; Marcia Hento and husband Jeff of Custer, SD, Margaret Carling and husband Troy of Black Hawk, SD. Two sons; Mathew (Mike) Petrik and wife Mellissa of Avon, SD, Larry Petrik and wife Kay of Mitchell, SD. 13 Grandchildren, 24 Great grandchildren, 1 Great-great grandchild and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers; Edwin, Arvin, and Richard Roth. 6 sisters; Viola Woehl, Emma Roth, Martha Roth, Hulda Streyle, Gladys Brunken, and Ella Meisenholder. Sisters-in-law; Sylvia (Bucholz) Roth, Helen (Heckenliable) Roth, and Carol (DenOuden) Roth. Brothers-in-law; Leon Woehl, Paul Meisenholder, Ervin Streyle, and Elwood Brunken.
