Margaret White Hawk, 64, of Lake Andes
Funeral services are 3 PM, Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the Cedar Presbyterian Church, rural Lake Andes. Burial is in the church cemetery. Wake services will be Tuesday at the church.
Margaret "Maggie" White Hawk had her sunrise on the Rosebud, from the Sicagu Nation on December 19, 1957. Her sunset in this life's journey happened on February 5, 2022. Her parents were Calvin White Hawk and Dorothy McLain. She had two brothers; Thurston and Thomas White Hawk. Her parents passed away when she was a young child.
Margaret began her life journey in Mission, SD and graduated from Todd County High School. She then attended Huron College where she met her husband Robert Flying Hawk. Together they made their home in Lake Andes, SD. From this union came five children: two daughters: April and Candace; and three sons: Jacob, Paul and Nathaniel.
Margaret was employed by the Ihanktonwan Nation at (MIS) Marty Indian School dorm. She then worked at the bingo hall, snack bar and then on to security and surveillance at the (FRC) Fort Randall Casino before finally retiring after 30 years.
Margaret's hobbies included playing basketball, softball and throwing darts. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma.
She left to mourn her five children: Nate (Sarah), Paul, Jake (JoMarie), Candace (Ed) and April (Justus); her grand babies: Lewis, Ann Marie, Anthony, Nehemiah, Kingsley, Knightley, Jayla, Jalise, Wimima, Edward, Samuel, Grace, Tyrone and Lillian; her great-grand babies: Easton, Emmett and Ikimna.
She was preceded in death by her parents Calvin White Hawk and Dorothy McLain; two brothers: Thomas and Thurston White Hawk; and her grand baby Ethan Flying Hawk.
