Margaret Ann Horned Eagle, 88, of Lake Andes
Funeral services were 11 AM, Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Cedar Presbyterian Church, rural Wagner. Burial was in the church cemetery. Wake services began Saturday at the church.
Margaret was born January 19, 1926 to Rev Cyril and Matilda (Estes) Rouillard in Springfield, SD. She died Friday, June 27, 2014 at her home in Lake Andes.
She attended school at Bishop Hare School in Mission, SD and graduated from St. Mary's School for Girls in Springfield, SD.
She attended nursing school through the WW II Nursing program; Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES). She successfully graduated from the program but before she could be commissioned into the US Navy, WW II ended.
Margaret served as a Public Health Nurse with the Indian Health Service in Pine Ridge, SD and Wolf Point, MT. She also worked as a LPN and a Nursing Assistant at the Wagner IHS and retired in 1989 with 28 years and nine months of service.
Thankful for having shared her life are a sister-in-law, Janet (Ted) Rouillard, Lower Brule, SD; her children: Gerald (Shirley) Gunhammer, Dorothy Gunhammer, Seth Horned Eagle, Jr, Sylvianne (Thomas) Wolcott, Clyde (Ann) Horned Eagle Sr., Ardyce (Ernest) Neault Jr, Harlan Horned Eagle Sr, Robert Horned Eagle Sr, Guy Horned Eagle, Jean Horned Eagle, Matt Horned Eagle Sr, Michael Horned Eagle, Matilda (Stuart) Bruguier; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Waiting to welcome her home are her husband Seth, parents, her brothers: Ted and Jasper Rouillard; sisters: Dorothy, Ardyce, Connie, Alice "Chubby" and Wilma; her children: Gordon Sr., Deanna "Tiny", Melvin, Adelle, Doug, and Randy; as well as her grandchildren, some great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
