Born January 28, 1911 in the family home near Geddes SD to John and Ida Mae, (Archambeau) Durham, she was the 4th of seven children. She grew to early adulthood in Charles Mix, Co. and attended schools at Marty Mission in South Dakota and Genoa Indian School in Nebraska.
On August 19, 1927 she was united in marriage to Theodore R. Kemery in Lake Andes. With the exception of a short duration in Wyoming, Margaret and Ted spent their married years in and around Platte, Lucas, Burke and Pierre, SD.
Margaret's happiest years were spent on the Missouri River in Gregory Co. raising six sons in a log cabin built by Ted and their sons. She loved working in her home, caring for her family and helping Ted with the chores of running a small farm and saw mill.
After losing Ted in 1962, Margaret began traveling between sons and grandchildren, going wherever she felt she was needed or asked to go. She left an enduring legacy of love expressed through her hand-sewn quilts, baking of the world's best homemade bread, crocheting afghans, handing down family stories and caring for her many "little peanut heads" (grandchildren, nieces and nephews and adopted-in-spirit grandchildren).
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons William, Walter and Michael; Grandson Douglas, four sisters and three brothers. She is survived by sons Charles (Dorothy) of Wagner, SD, Russell (Carmen) of Tucson, AZ, Stanley (Lorraine) of Lititz, PA, and Theodore (Donna) of Pierre, daughter-in-law Bonnie (William) of The Dalles, OR, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She will be deeply missed by family and the many friends she has made throughout her life and travels. She never met a stranger and had a hug for everyone that crossed her path.
