Marian G. Payer, 83 of Wagner
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wagner, with burial in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner from 12 noon to 4 pm Tuesday, followed by a 7:30 pm Rosary-Wake Service at the church.
Marian Genevieve Payer, daughter of James and Pauline (Soukup) Bradley, was born March 12,1925 at Wagner, SD. She died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, NE, where she has lived for almost the last two years. Marian attained the age of 83 years, four months and 15 days.
Marian graduated from Wagner High School and then received a teaching degree at Southern Normal College in Springfield. She taught country school north of Wagner for two years.
Marian married Adolph Payer on June 14, 1948 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wagner. Six children were born to their union. Adolph and Marian farmed south of Wagner. Due to failing health, Marian and Adolph moved to Wahoo, NE in September of 2006.
Marian was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wagner, Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Marian's nickname was "Stormy" and for all who knew and loved her, it fit her perfectly. She will be remembered for being a great listener and confidant. Marian will long be famous for her chocolate chip cookies.
Thankful for having shared her husband, Adolph of Wahoo, NE; five children: Dennis and wife, Joan of Wagner, Gary and wife, Janice of Mobridge, Pam Lausterer and husband, Kal (of Wahoo, NE, David and wife, Brenda of Yukon, OK, and Joseph and wife, Marie of 'Bellevue, NE; Daughter-in-law, Jane Payer of Des Moines, IA 13 loving grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Ritter of Westminster, CO; and many nephews, nieces and friends.
Marian was preceded in death by her son, Wayne in September of 1982; parents; two sisters: Dorothy Soukup and Fern Honner; and one brother, James Bradley, Jr.
