Marion Mae (Selwyn) Jones, IHANKTOWAN CANTE WASTE UN WIN "Good Heart Woman" 74, of Rapid City

Funeral services will be 1 PM, Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the Marty Community Center in Marty. Wake services will be 7 PM, Wednesday at the Marty Community Center.

Marion Mae (Selwyn) Jones was born on October 30, 1948 in Wagner, SD to Lavern "Buzzy" Selwyn, Sr and Zelda (Packard) Selwyn. She made her spirit journey on January 22, 2023 in Rapid City, SD to join her late husband Jim and her grandson Gabe along with parents, sisters and brothers: Winona, Delphine, Joyce, Wayne, Ernie, Luvern Jr, Todd, Allen and Dondi.

Marion was married to James W. Jones for close to 43 years before his passing in 2019.

Marion was generous and kind. She had a soft, comforting presence that made everyone feel cared for. She loved to laugh and listen to a variety of music. Before she lost her eye sight she was a well established artist and hand made Lakota Dakota pottery. This gifted skill she taught her oldest daughter, Lisa Selwyn. She took great pride in the hard work she dedicated to the Sioux Pottery Shop and Sioux Trading Post. For 16 years, Marion with steadfast support of her husband Jim and children, created works of art that was bought and traveled around the world.

Marion also worked for the City of Rapid City with her husband and daughter Lisa. She enjoyed her work there for nine years until her health wouldn't let her anymore. Every one of her coworkers have nothing but praise and fond memories of "Smiling Marion".

Marion's daughters: Barbiejo Jones and Lisa Selwyn have blessed her with six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Marion was lovingly called Grandma by numerous adoring young people whom she always included in her prayers. That was the compassionate, beautiful and kind lady Marion was.

Marion's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. It also brought her great joy to exercise her creativity and would spend hours on her many hobbies. Whether it be making homemade paper valentines with the kids, singing old choir songs or drawing bouquets on greeting cards; Marion always poured her love into it.

Marion is survived by her daughters: Lisa and BarbieJO Selwyn of Rapid City; her grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brother Jim Selwyn of Sioux Falls; sisters: Georgia and Francis Boyer of Wagner, Carol and Dan Halbert of Yankton, Lois Stock of Yankton, Sheileen Rowe of Virginia, Donita Selwyn of Sioux Falls and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
