Marjorie Buchholz, 65, of Avon
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, December 31, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Avon, SD, with burial in the Baptist Cemetery, rural Avon. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Chapel in Avon, followed by a 7:30 pm prayer service at the church.
Marjorie Kay Buchholz was born July 13,1942 at Avon, SD, the daughter of Simon and Lena (Buseman) Van Gerpen. She died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at St. Michael's Hospital Avera in Tyndall. Marjorie attained the age of 65 years, five months and 14 days.
Marjorie graduated from Avon High School in 1960. She married Merdith LeRoy Buchholz on June 2,1961 at the First Baptist Church in Avon. Three children were born to their union.
Marjorie began working at the Avon Enterprise in 1978 and worked there for 18 years. Due to failing health of severe Parkinson disease, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Tyndall in 2006.
Marjorie was baptized on December 31, 1952 at the First Baptist Church in Avon, where she remained a faithful member all of her life. She served on the Church Centennial Committee, helped out with many church functions, and was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Marjorie will be remembered for her enjoyment of doing crafts and collecting knickknacks. She was the family historian and loved keeping journals of everyone's activities.
Thankful for having shared her life are her husband, Merdith of Avon; her children: Lori and husband, Terry Hofer of Tea; Lee and wife, Julie of Brewster, MN; and Marsha and husband, Matt Steuerwald of Madison; three grandchildren: Daniel Hofer, Briana Steuerwald and Chase Steuerwald; sister, Anneatta and husband, Jim Knoll of Avon; several nephews and a niece; mother-in-law, Esther Buchholz of Avon; sister-in-law, Adella Massey and husband, Don of Avon; and many friends.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Dervent and Milford; father-in-law, Roy Buchholz; and brother-in-law, Roger Mudder.
