Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Springfield Community Bible Church in Springfield, with burial in the Springfield Cemetery. Visitation will be the hour before the service. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home of Springfield is in charge of the arrangements.
Marjorie Jean DeGroot, daughter of Thomas and Cornelia (DeRoos) DeGroot, was born November 11, 1929 near Springfield. She died peacefully Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Center in Tyndall. Marjorie attained the age of 88 years, three months and 28 days.
Marjorie attended elementary school at Quinn Country School through the eighth grade. She was a member of the Kingsburg Church, where she was the custodian for many years. She loved Jesus and liked to listen to hymns. She lived her her parents until their passing and then, shortly after, moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Tyndall.
Marjorie was a loyal Twins baseball fan and hardly missed a game on the radio and later really enjoyed being able to watch them on TV. She loved to embroider and made hundreds of pillowcases and tea towels as gifts for many relatives and friends. She loved to go to Dairy Queen for fried chicken and her favorite snacks were Cheetos and Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. If you stopped in to visit her, you would find her working on her word search puzzles. Marjorie will be remembered for her warm smile and kind spirit.
Thankful for having shared in her life are her sisters and brother: Donna (Marlow) Pedersen of Central City, NE, Thomas (Pat) DeGroot of Renton, WA, Doris (Roger) Tucker of Wausa, NE and Judy (Larry) Seger of Wallace, NE; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Leona Ruppelt, Betty DeFries, Thelma Kent and Clarice Shutt.
Memorials will be directed to the Good Samaritan Center in Tyndall.
