Mary Dog Soldier McGhee, 56 of Lake Andes
Funeral services were 10:00 am Saturday, August 22, 2009 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lake Andes, with burial in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Rev. Kay Jennings officiated.
Mary M. Dog Soldier McGhee, daughter of Ather Dog Soldier and Sophia Songhawk Archambeau, was born June 20, 1953 at Winner, SD. She died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Mary received her education at the Marty Indian School. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Mary will especially be remembered for her enjoyment of listening to CCR, Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Freddy Fender and many more.
Thankful for having shared her life are her children:Tami Whirlwind Horse and husband Mike of Alliance, NE; Jeff Sr. and wife Bobbi McGhee of Mitchell; Nancy McGhee of Chamberlain; Jason McGhee of Lake Andes; Tina Fallis of Bismark, ND; Sonya Big Eagle, David Big Eagle and Joshua Big Eagle, all of Lake Andes; 29 grandchildren; her mother of Lake Andes; three brothers: Arthur Dog Soldier of Montana; Joe Lovell and Everdale Songhawk, both of Lake Andes; three sisters: Roberta Taylor of Mitchell; Marlys Miller of Crow Creek; and Anita Paz of Sioux Falls; and many relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her son, Wayne McGhee, Jr; her father; brother Kenneth "Skeeter" Archambeau; and sister Judy Thunder Horse.
