Obituary

Mary (Cuka) Thaler, 62, of Mitchell, SD

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, rural Dante. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner with family present from 4-6 on Monday.

Mary Katherine (Cuka) Thaler, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Mary was born to Leonard and Helen Cuka on January 6, 1954.

Mary attended country school in rural Wagner and later graduated from Wagner High School. Mary married Gary Thomas Thaler in 1971. Together, they owned/operated a grocery store in Dante, SD. Later in life, she owned a second hand store in Wagner. She loved her customers and helping anyone in need. As a result of her generous spirit, she was loved by many. Mary made friends everywhere she went.

Her life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children: Ann (Jason) Aberson of Baltic, SD, Jay Thaler of Vermillion, SD, Jennifer Thaler of Tyndall, SD, Daniel Thaler of Mitchell, SD and Kimberly Lysne of Tyndall, SD; and 15 grandchildren: Amelia, Ellie, Josiah, Rachel, Alex, Kalin, Joe, Serena, Zandra, Joslin, Jeramiah, Vance, Andrew, Elijah and Faith.
Mary is survived by her parents, Helen and Leonard Cuka of Armour, SD, 2 brothers: Mark (Robbin) Cuka of Wagner, SD and Gerard (Sharon) Cuka of Wagner, SD, her children, grandchildren, numerous cousins and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceeded in death by her maternal grandparents, Joe & Helen Stastny and her paternal grandparents, John and Mary Cuka.
