Mabel Wiechmann, 92, of Wagner
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM, Friday, September 10, 2010 at St. John's Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial is in the parish cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 PM until 5 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner. Rosary/Wake services are 7 PM Thursday at the church.
Mabel Wiechmann passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010 in the Hospice Suite at Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD at the age of 92 years, 5 months and 2 days.
Mabel was born to Ovila and Evelina (Brunell) Scott on a farm near Geddes, SD on April 6, 1918. The Scott family consisted of 5 boys and 6 girls. One sister died in Canada before Mabel's parents came to South Dakota.
Mabel met Frank Wiechmann and were married during a blizzard on February 2, 1937 in Geddes, SD. The couple moved to their own farm north of Wagner. Mabel kept busy with chickens, a garden and raising children. Mabel loved to sew and kept her children clothed.
Mabel and Frank raised nine children. Children include: Mark (Barbara) of Wagner; Evelyn (Robert) Kisely of Ramsuer, NC; Eileen Bruner and fiance Phil Halverson of Wentworth, SD; Teresa Kattke of Sierra Vista, AZ; Clyde of Wagner; Kendall (Diane) of Parkston; Laura (Allen) Hunt of Huron; Loyson (Bernadine) of Phoenix, AZ; and Cletus (Julie) of Wagner. An infant daughter, Zoe Frances died at birth.
Frank passed away December 31, 2007 after 70 years of marriage. Mabel has 27 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and one on the way. Mabel is also survived by 2 brothers.
