Matilda Kills Plenty, 81, of Lake Andes

Wake services began Wednesday at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Funeral services were 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 1, 2016 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Marty. Burial was in the Cedar Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Lake Andes. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Matilda Mildred (Wells) Kills Plenty - AKA- Tillie Te-id-u-pi-win (Come To Her Home) made her journey to the Spirit World March 26, 2016 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Tillie, the daughter of Thomas Wells and Helen Pretty Feather was born March 18, 1935 near Marty. She attained the age of 81 years and 8 days.

She was a decendent of MadBull and an Ihanktonwan Full Blood. She was given the Nakota name: Te-id-u-pi-win (Come To Her Home) by a woman they called Grandma White Tallow.

She went to school at St. Paul's Indian School in Marty Mission until she was either in the 6th/7th grade. She left home when she was about 16 years old.

In May of 1953, she married Hamelton Kills Plenty and to this uion a son was born, Irving Lee Kills Plenty and lost a baby girl. In the 60's, she came home.

Tillie met her special companion Mathew Spirit Track in the late 60's. They were together until he passed away in 2005.

She was the third child of 11 siblings: Lester, Adolf, John, Richard (Dickie), Charlotte, Margaret, Elsie, Phillip, George, Lynda and infant brother whom are all deceased except Lynda.

TIllie enjoyed going to church, visiting, playing cards, throwing dice, and watching western movies. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting, reading and doing crossword puzzles.
For 20 years, whe was active in the Ft. Randall Traditional Wacipi where she was a cook and her specialty was making frybread for hundreds of people.

She leaves to mourn her son: Irving Kills Plenty Sr., 4 grandchildren: twins- Lea and Lisa, Irvinetta, Irvin Jr., Silas and great grandchildren: Juno, Jalen, Anthony, Philip and Diane; her sister, Lynda Squirrel Coat and nephew John; two cousins: Arlene Thompson and Barbara L.; brother Roy (Sandy) Wade; 3 nephews: Eldon Medicine Horn, Lancelot Wells Jr., Isaac Waynd Primeaux and 2 nieces on the Wells side, Eunice Penton and Christine Selwyn.

She is preceded in death by her companion Mathew Spirit Track, 6 brothers; 3 sisters; cousin Olemae,; infant girl; stepfather Vern Squirrel Coat, parents and maternal and paternal grandparents, mom Sphie, Danilelle and Patty.
